Meet Tiffanie.

From the time I announced that I was running for school board to today serving as District 4 school board member, people ask why I wanted the seat and why I serve. More than anything, I serve because of my experiences growing up.

My mother had me when she was just sixteen years old, and as a result, many people were willing to write me off. Whether they said it or not, they thought the child of a teen mother could never become anything. I ended up proving them wrong, and being the first in my family to go to college, all because I went to great public schools.

I know there are students throughout District 4 who the world is writing off. Students who are told they can't be successful because of who they are and where they live. The world doesn't want them to succeed, but I know they can—because I did. I serve on the school board because I want to fight to improve our schools. I want every child, including my two sons, to go to schools that allow them to be successful and provide them with the tools to make their dreams come true.
